Two presentations were made at the PAGS AGM held on the 19th March 2022.
Firstly Derek Lee (left) was presented with the RHS Banksian Medal for 2021 from David Taylor, our Vice Chairman. This was awarded to Derek in recognition of his sterling service as the society’s archivist over many years. These medals are normally presented as National Show awards but with our show being cancelled in 2021 the RHS advised that these awards should go to Society members for noted outstanding service.
Also awarded at the meeting was the Lady Astor Trophy, made annually in recognition of long standing service to the aims of the Society. This year it was awarded to John Freer who is based in the Leeds area and has done much work in the past for both PAGS and the previous UK Pelargonium Society’s along with much sterling work on other horticultural fronts. Here our President, Ursula Key-Davis, (left) handed the trophy to Roger Burnet who was collecting it on behalf of John who couldn’t make it down to the AGM. The trophy will be presented to John during the Harrogate Spring Flower Show in April.
